SLEEP WELLNESS INSTITUTE EARNS NATIONAL HONOR
West Allis, Wis. May 28, 2007 – The Sleep Wellness Institute in West Allis has been named one of the top three sleep disorders centers in the US by ADVANCEforSleep.com., one of a family of magazines serving healthcare professionals.
The Sleep Wellness Institute was joined in the top three by a hospital center in New Jersey and a center at the University of Massachusetts.
The Sleep Wellness Institute is Wisconsin’s largest independent sleep disorders center and is the only program in southeastern Wisconsin accredited by the American Academy for Sleep Medicine to diagnose and treat both children and adults with sleep disorders. It has particular expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea, a common yet potentially lethal disorder that affects more than 18 million Americans.
“Like our recent full accreditation, this honor serves notice to both the medical community and consumers that we are at the forefront of offering an optimal experience for patients and their doctors,” said Mark Stoiber, president of the Sleep Wellness Institute.
The Institute was founded in 1994 and has served more than 10,000 people since 2000. It has also developed the Reggie White Sleep Disorders Research and Education Foundation, in conjunction with the family of the late Green Bay Packers star. White’s premature death was related to sleep apnea. The Foundation strives to reach out and spread the word about sleep disorders to all populations in the community.
Nominations for the award came from peers and experts in the field judged the entries. The Sleep Wellness Institute was judged on its ability to develop innovative programs, take novel approaches to improve productivity and patient outcomes, effectively cope with the challenges of today’s healthcare world, implement gold standards of care and new technology, pursue continuing education and certification, improve recruitment and retention of staff, and go above and beyond to reach out to the community.
