SLEEP WELLNESS INSTITUTE EARNS FULL ACCREDITATION
West Allis, Wis., April 4, 2007 – Wisconsin’s largest independent sleep disorders center, the Sleep Wellness Institute, has earned full accreditation as an adult and pediatric sleep disorder center from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). The Institute is the only independent sleep disorders center in Wisconsin to hold this distinction.
The five-year accreditation was granted following an intensive on-site inspection by the AASM. Sleep disorder treatment centers seek accreditation from the AASM to demonstrate that they meet the highest standards of quality patient care.
“AASM accreditation is the gold standard by which the medical community and the public as a whole can evaluate sleep medicine services,” said Mark Stoiber, president of the Sleep Wellness Institute. “The Standards for Accreditation ensure that sleep medicine providers display and maintain proficiency in areas such as testing procedures and policies, patient safety and follow-up, and physician and staff training.”
Sleep disorders, such as obstructive sleep apnea, are known to cause or complicate serious medical conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Millions of Americans suffer with various sleep disorders, and most go undiagnosed and untreated.
Located at 2356 S. 102nd St., West Allis, the Sleep Wellness Institute offers nine individual rooms for sleep studies and physician supervised diagnosis and treatment. Since 2000 the Sleep Wellness Institute has helped more than 10,000 patients achieve a better life through improved sleep.
The accreditation comes at the beginning of National Sleep Awareness Week,
March 5-11.
